Fall is an especially great time of year, with cooler temperatures and plenty of family-friendly activities. Here are a few to consider when planning your next adventure!
Editor’s note: Event information can change from year to year, and some events may pause or return in a new format. Always check with the organizer or local tourism resources for the latest details before you go.
Great Ogeechee Seafood Festival (Local Favorite)
For many years, the Great Ogeechee Seafood Festival was one of Richmond Hill’s signature fall events, drawing families from all over Coastal Georgia for live music, rides, arts and crafts, and—of course—plenty of seafood. Although this event is not currently being put on by the Richmond Hill Bryan County Chamber of Commerce, it remains a beloved local tradition that many residents remember fondly.
If you’re visiting the area in the fall, keep an eye on community calendars and local news to see what festivals, concerts, or seasonal events may be taking place instead. Richmond Hill and the surrounding Savannah area are always finding new ways to celebrate the season.
Poppell Farms Fall Harvest Celebration
The fall season at Poppell Farms includes a full line-up of events and festivals. This working farm has acres of fun ready for your family to enjoy with their annual Fall Harvest Celebration. Typically running from late September through the last weekend of October, the farm offers fresh produce from the farmers market, a petting farm, and 20+ attractions.
Take a hayride to the pumpkin patch, play Barnyard Baseball, go on pony rides, enjoy catch-and-release fishing, and run wild through the famous corn maze. Each year’s maze has a different theme, making it a must-see attraction for repeat visitors.
Ottawa Farms Fall Fun
Prepare for a trip perfect for the little ones in your family. Open on fall weekends, the annual celebration at Ottawa Farms makes the season extra special. With more than 20 attractions to choose from, you can plan a whole day of fun.
Watch the pig races and rubber duck races, go on a hayride, snap cute photos by one of the many photo props, and pick your favorite pumpkin from the patch. While there are food vendors on-site, you can also pack a picnic to enjoy in the pavilion area.
Ghosts & Gravestones of Savannah
Savannah is a beautiful area, but it has a spooky side that’s especially popular in October as Halloween approaches. We recommend leaving children under 6 at home for this one. The Ghosts & Gravestones of Savannah tour is sure to give you a fright with a journey on the Old Town Trolley.
While hearing the stories of Savannah’s past from your Gravedigger Host, you’ll tour reportedly haunted houses and buildings and learn about the city’s more mysterious history. It’s a fun choice for families with older kids or teens who love spooky stories.
