Our Amelia - a One-Story Wonder Built to Customize!

The Amelia Floor Plan – A Retired Single-Story Favorite from Ernest HomesAlthough the Amelia is not currently in production, this single-story floor plan remains one of Ernest Homes’ most beloved home designs. Created for homeowners who wanted a flexible, open layout on one convenient level, the Amelia offered a highly livable design with a range of personalization options that made it easy to create a true “forever home.”
This charming 4-bedroom, 2-bath home delivered approximately 1,868 square feet of efficiently planned living space. For homeowners wanting even more room to relax and entertain, the Amelia also included an optional sunroom expansion.
Flexible Layout with Optional Sunroom
One of the most popular features of the Amelia floor plan was the optional sunroom located just off the great room. This bright, welcoming space added an additional 180 square feet of usable living area – ideal as a reading nook, playroom, hobby area, or casual sitting room.
Homeowners could further enhance the sunroom with:
- An optional fireplace for cozy evenings
- A stylish half-round window for added natural light
- Custom trim and finish options to match their personal style
Personalized Owner’s Suite
The owner’s suite in the Amelia floor plan offered numerous upgrade options so buyers could tailor the space to their preferences. Popular enhancements included:
- Optional tray ceiling in the bedroom
- Staggered cabinetry and custom storage details
- Upgrade from a standard tub/shower combo to a separate walk-in shower and whirlpool tub
- Double vanity with his-and-hers sinks and added drawer stacks
These thoughtful touches helped create a spa-like retreat for relaxing at the end of the day and streamlining busy mornings.
Versatile Secondary Bedrooms
In addition to the owner’s suite, the Amelia included three secondary bedrooms that could be used in a variety of ways:
- Children’s or guest bedrooms
- A dedicated home office or study
- A craft, sewing, or hobby room
- A compact home gym or wellness space
This flexibility made the Amelia a great match for families in different life stages and lifestyles.
Open-Concept Living, Dining & Kitchen Areas
At the center of the Amelia floor plan was a spacious great room – the true heart of the home. It was designed for movie nights, slumber parties, game time, or simply unwinding with a good book after a long day. Homeowners had the option to add a fireplace to create a warm focal point and a cozy ambiance.
For meals and entertaining, the Amelia offered:
- A formal dining room, perfect for family dinners and holiday gatherings
- A casual breakfast room off the kitchen for quick meals and flexible schedules
The kitchen itself was a cook’s dream, with available upgrades such as:
- Extended 42" upper cabinets for added storage
- Glass-front cabinet doors, plate racks, and wine racks
- Spice inserts, roll-out trays, and additional drawers
- Optional free-standing trash compactor
Outdoor Living & Exterior Options
The Amelia floor plan also supported outdoor living with a choice of:
- A standard concrete patio
- An optional wooden deck for expanded entertaining space
A generous two-car garage provided room for vehicles plus extra storage for bikes, lawn equipment, sports gear, and more. Buyers could also choose between two exterior styles:
- Classic brick
- Low-maintenance siding
